Task is to Write Paper that Analyzes Jurassic Park 1993 (Essay Sample) Content: Jurassic Park 1993Name:Professor:Course:Institution:Date:IntroductionJurassic park 1993 is one of the most famous fiction books of 90s. Three films have been produced out of this book and thus the content of the book is of great value. The book is all about some genetic engineers who established a dinosaur park near Costa Rica through the aid of a billionaire. The concept of the book surrounds the idea of these characters in their process of establishing the Jurassic park and the final end of the park. The park is established with elements of animal conservation but after few years of operation, elements of selfishness and ignorance are observed among the owner and the computer specialist in the park thus doubting the integrity of the park. At the end, the park leads to the death of almost all its founders and the whole island is bombed at last in order to avoid the spread of dinosaurs to the world. This is just an overview of the book but there is the real meaning w hich the author tries to present in the book. There are many issues of analysis as far as this book is concerned. Technology is powerful and its impact cannot be ignored, however, it has potential dangers when left in the hands of selfish and ignorant people. To start with, technology involves a lot of issues of controversy where some people argue that technology is the most powerful tool in the world while others refute this argument greatly. However, the author of this book presents technology as power tool which can do great in the world. The whole book is based on technology and thus technology is the main concept that surrounds the main theme of the book. The power of technology is portrayed in two major ways, the cloning of dinosaurs and the act of operating the park using computers. The technology of genetics is one of the most complicated and advance technology that is currently being tested in the world (Jonassen, 45). Moreover, the current genetics involves cloning organism s that are living but not the dead animals as presented in the book. Dinosaurs stopped to exist many years back and thus cloning them to life through the use of DNA derived from lizards is much complicated. Dr. Grant who is the genetic engineer in the park says "I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬t care to make my hands dirty as long as it happens" (Crichton, 112). This shows the commitment and the determination that Grant had to make dinosaurs exist. Nevertheless, these efforts are traced back from technology because it made it happen. In the real life situation, cloning of dinosaurs which the world knows they cannot exist in the current world is a sign of how technology can do the unimaginable. This is the best sign that the author used to make it clear that technology is the most powerful in the world if it can bring to life something that do not exist. Generally, there is much to say about the cloning technique and its relation to the power of technology but the act itself makes it clear that there is no doubt technology is the most powerful tool in the world (Doyle, 89).The power of technology is further expounded and expressed through the management of the park by Hammond the billionaire owner. In many parks and animal reserve centers, human labor is usually recommended due to its effectiveness and humanitarian care. However, the Jurassic park was under a computer system. "Computers can do it allà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ , this is phrase that is used by Hammond to indicate that his intentions was to put the park fully under a computer system (Crichton, 221). Computers played to major roles, management of the park operations by monitoring the dinosaurs and other fields in the park and management of all the fences.Fences in the park were under computer control which means that the whole security system of the park was under computer control. Instead of gate keepers, there was a common security point where the gates were locked and opened through a computer. The fences were monitored usi ng a computer and there was no way a dinosaur could make its way out. This strong security also displays the power of technology to make things in order and to offer enough security. In the real world, the book shows that the world can operate better without human labor in the ground level of operations. The world just needs technology advancement and everything will learn smoothly. The power of technology is also demonstrated by how operations in the park are monitored by computer system. All the commands in the park are displayed by computers, dinosaurs are under the care of computer system for their welfare and also the few workers are also under the monitor of security system. The author created this scene in order to display to the world the extent in which technology can simplify and bring effectiveness in management of all sectors. Through the above explanation, the author managed to show the power of technology in a way that any refuting argument can on the power of technolog y can have no meaning. After displaying the power of technology, the author goes further and exposes the dangers of technology. Even without any much explanation, it is clear that the author accepts the power of technology but he warns people on its negative side. The first and the clearest danger of technology as portrayed in the book is the failure of the computer system. "It is all goneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ , this is the phrase from Hammond that shows that technology can completely fail (Crichton, 305). This is after Nerdy, a computer specialist switches off the computer system in the park in order to steal a dinosaur embryo in the park. This brings to an end the life of the park because the computer system does not work anymore. The fences opened wide and the whole security system was tampered with. The dinosaurs get their way out where they kill the entire computer specialists in the park. This leaves the people under a great danger but eventually Tim who is not a computer specialist m anages to switch on the computer system. This shows that computers cannot be relied upon in the real life despite their powers. The author also brings the concept of the results of technology as a potential danger. The impact of technology is judged by its result. The main argument is whether the results of technology are good or bad. In this book, the author makes it clear that results of the work of technology are dangerous. Out of technology, Grant and his fellow colleagues come up with Dinosaurs. These dinosaurs were a read danger to people and that is why when they moved out the park, the whole island had to be put to fire. This shows that the results of technology in the real world are a threat to human existence. For instance, technology of making weapon gave result to dangerous weapons which are bringing to an end the whole world. The potential dangers of technology are also displayed by the fact that the results of technology are irreversible. The author expresses this as a f act since there is not the genetic engineers could have manipulated these dinosaurs to be friendly. This is the same case in the real world because after coming up with a certain weapon and releasing it to the market, there is no way its danger can be controlled (Siegrist, 112). These two facts are the main point of arguments that the author tries to express as far as potential dangers of technology are concerned. In the final section of the book, the author clears things up as far as technology is concerned by showing that potential dangers of technology occur only when ...
